From the Breton ports to the seven seas

Since the repair service for the Breton sailors and the installation of BNWAS onboard all fishing vessels of the French coast, MARINELEC has never stopped to grow and develop its business serving the professional seafarers everywhere in the world. In contact with the seafarers and the naval industrial sector MARINELEC has made its offer evolve and has surrounded itself by competent and experienced employees, at both the technical and the commercial level.

Over the last decade, the company has dedicated an export sales department for its development throughout Europe and in Turkey, the Middle East, Latin America and Asia. From the R&D department to the after sales service, its multilingual team can respond to requests from every continent. Its participation in many international maritime exhibitions and its field presence help to strengthen the technical expertise of MARINELEC and market knowledge. With its expertise and ability to innovate, the company is now represented in more than forty countries and has established a network of partners around the world. In 2014, MARINELEC created a new structure to meet the demand of the Asian market: MARINELEC Asia, based in Singapore.

First specialized in the construction of production boats, COUACH shipyard, based in Arcachon since 1897 has become a reference in the construction of patrol vessels and units intended for the action of the State at sea. Since the 90s, Couach has started the construction of superyachts up to 50 meters and the group is now renowned for its brand COUACH yachts. The Spanish shipyards ARMON were established in Navia in 1963. Today they run 6 building and naval repair yards in Galicia and Austurias. They employ more than a 1,000 persons. Their commercial marine yards manager Ricardo Garcia talks about how ARMON and MARINELEC have been working to build trusted and efficient business relations.

Thierry Gambier works with the electrical drawing office at the STX shipyard. He is responsible for various aspects of ship safety such as fire detection, the ‘Public Address’ and ‘Safety Management Systems’. He decides on what technical solutions to use as well validating the design of the different onboard systems for the giant cruise liners. He has a wide knowledge of new technologies and works with MARINELEC to improve safety equipment.

SHIPELEC : MARINELEC combines service, expertise and reactivity

SHIPELEC is an electrical company specializing in marine services. It was set up over twenty years ago with offices in St. Nazaire, La Rochelle and Lorient. SHIPELEC is a family run business. Father and son team, Marcel Bertaud and Olivier, manages a workforce of fifty persons. The company repairs and services vessels while in dry dock. If required it works onboard at sea. It has worked out of all French ports as well on special missions abroad. Dominique Blin, their project and costings’ manager chats here with their Chairman about their relationship with MARINELEC.
